Excellent shot, he stands out so well here too. It's just sad to see what he's coping with and we can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be for him. I've seen the odd coyote with this condition in past years here and it's always a reminder of how harsh life can be for them and the moose who get ticks. Very well captured, Debra..

Thank you Heather. I agree whole heartedly with you. It sure did tug at the heart strings.

I feel bad for the coyote, but the photo tells a story, and one a lot of people don't know. Love the simplicity Debra.

Thx Jane, you are right about the story. The simplicity is one that attracted me to this image as well. My husband told me that he was chasing a grouse but did not catch up to the grouse before he took to a tree. I missed all that action. The coyote was a happy soul having fun looking for lunch.

Thanks very much Yves for your comments, always appreciated. At first I thought maybe a spring shed. But when I zoomed up on the area around his ribs and belly there is even saw raw skin showing. When I googled mange it said that the tail is usually the first to lose all the hair.

Love the purified style of that photo Debra. The coyote shows sharp details and he realy pops out over the pale sky and field colours. Could it be that he is changing fur colour for the summer one? Very nice photo.
